The ChallengE
For a Global Energy Company’s Crude & Products Commercial Operators Team, managing product transportation meant dealing with multiple scattered digital resources. This often resulted in a lack of clear overview, inefficient workflows, hindered operational performance, and a supply chain vulnerable to disruptions
Our Solution
Voyager empowered a Global Energy Company’s European team to proactively manage their supply chain. Joining the project in its second year, our team enhanced Voyager by replacing legacy tools and integrating all necessary functionalities, thereby streamlining the operational workflow. By centralizing operations, we reduced the time spent on each step of the workflow, eliminating the need for multiple tools such as email, Excel, GMAS, RBFT, DEX, PI, and LIMS.
Utilizing a modular architecture with encapsulated Go services in Docker containers, Voyager ensures scalability and modularity. Internal communication via GRPC promotes efficiency, while an external-facing gateway simplifies interaction through GraphQL APIs. Robust authentication and authorization mechanisms, along with automated development and deployment processes using GitHub Actions and SonarQube, guarantee code quality and security. Finally, standardized infrastructure deployment via Terraform enhances reliability across all environments, making Voyager a comprehensive and efficient solution for streamlining supply chain operations.
Voyager enabled the Global Energy Company’s team to easily adapt to workflow changes, facilitated the addition of new features, and offered performance measurement capabilities. As a result, it also reduced production incidents and accelerated feature delivery.
The Impact
Our Impact includes:
  • Operational Efficiency: Modular architecture and automation tools streamlined workflows, reducing manual intervention and automating repetitive tasks, leading to faster feature delivery.
  • Scalability: Modular architecture, containerisation, and standardised deployment enhanced scalability, enabling the system to accommodate growing user loads and evolving business needs seamlessly.
  • Security: Robust authentication mechanisms and role-based access control ensured secure access to the ecosystem, minimising the risk of unauthorised access and data breaches.
  • User Experience: Unified interfaces through GraphQL APIs enhanced user experience, simplifying system integration and access to functionalities.
  • Reliability and Maintainability: Adoption of modern technologies and methodologies improved system reliability and maintainability, resulting in stable performance and reduced downtime.
  • Cost Savings: Early bug detection and resolution during development saved resources and time compared to post-production fixes, resulting in cost savings.
“I wanna emphasize about their business ethics and their personalities. We have built a great team with really positive vibes which was critical for the successful Go Live in August 2022.”
