Climate and reducing greenhouse gas emissions

At DEUS, we recognize the urgent need to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to safeguard our planet's future for generations to come. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to taking proactive measures to mitigate our environmental impact and foster sustainability in all aspects of our operations.

In alignment with this commitment, we have developed a comprehensive set of policies aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and promoting environmentally responsible practices throughout our organization. These policies encompass various areas of our business, from energy efficiency and transportation to waste reduction and employee engagement.

By implementing these policies, we not only fulfill our ethical obligation to protect the environment but also contribute to our long-term viability as a business and positively impact the communities in which we operate.

Below, we outline the key policies that guide our efforts in combating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions:

Energy Efficiency Policy

  • Implement energy-efficient practices such as using LED lighting, energy-efficient appliances, and optimizing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Encourage employees to turn off lights, computers, and other equipment when not in use.
  • Transitioned to renewable energy alternatives for both offices in Coruña and Porto.

Transportation Policy

  • Promote alternative transportation options such as carpooling, biking, or public transit for employees commuting to work.
  • Encourage remote work arrangements to reduce the need for commuting.

Waste Reduction and Recycling Policy

  • Implement a comprehensive recycling program for paper, plastics, glass, and other recyclable materials.
  • Minimize waste generation by using reusable or compostable products in the workplace.
  • Encourage employees to reduce paper usage by using digital documents and communication whenever possible.

Procurement Policy

  • Prioritize purchasing products and supplies from environmentally responsible suppliers who prioritize sustainability and reduce carbon emissions in their supply chain.
  • Consider the life cycle environmental impacts of products and materials when making purchasing decisions.
  • Transitioned to renewable energy alternatives for both offices in Coruña and Porto.

Continuous Improvement and Monitoring

  • Conduct yearly audits and assessments to identify opportunities for further improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable practices through the GSES system.
  • Review and update climate policies and initiatives periodically to ensure alignment with emerging best practices and regulatory requirements.
